Jason,
I think the big takeaway here is leveraging employees...but not before giving them the rules and some training.

Back in 2008 I was asked to put together some social media training that addressed the nuances of social media. The result was the Community Banker's Guide to Social Network Marketing. This ebook, which I eventually released freely, addresses some of the more important issues cited in the presentation - the need to engage, be transparent and authentic and do it in a manner that is consistent with user expectations in order to enhance (and not damage) the brand.

While I targeted bankers (I'm a banker), the Guide is really applicable to any industry. It is an excellent primer. It can be downloaded at http://www.tinyurl.com/cbgsnm.

Jesse Torres
Social Media and Banking Blog - socialmediabanking.blogspot.com
Community Banker's Guide to Social Network Marketing - www.tinyurl.com/cbgsnm
