Wow, that's some pretty heavy hitting company we have in that list. Thank you for the inclusion! It's been quite a year here. (Especially speaking from personal experience being a decade out from my last startup adventure.)

It is true, most of their changes are far ahead of their core user's understanding. They can get away with it I think for now, because of the audience saturation they have. It will be interesting to see how the majority of users react. If history is any guide, most users will just roll with it.

I like the perspective. However, I feel as though Facebook has taken a step back. I don't think Facebook users are ready for real time. Facebook users use Facebook because it's more secure and controlled. This is just my opinion however.
