Enlightened Email Optimization
Some lessons on easy email marketing skills. Mainly the simplest methods to layout html email that will work with all email browsers (including the dreaded Gmail and Outlook 2007). This is by no means breaking news, but some great standard procedures that more people need to follow:
- No table background images (they get dropped in Outlook 07 apparently)
- Keep to pre-CSS design techniques as much as possible, good old bulky, nested tables
- If you must use styles, use the inline for every object
- Do not be afraid to make everything into images
Above is one of emails I developed at MindComet, html here. It is very simple, almost all images. Today I would use more inline styles for something like this, but both methods work.
