Charlotte WordCamp 1.0

Relief – that is what I felt after Charlotte’s first blogging conference had ended, and to be honest, some pride in an event that was more successful than I had hoped.

I have taken part in a lot of conferences and have helped run a few, but never on my own like this. The challenges all centered around starting the event from scratch. And while it was not the smoothest process, it was more than worth it. And it was clear that the time had definitely come for an event like Charlotte WordCamp. And I expect it to be the first of many for the Queen City.

My original goal was to get around 40 people together at a local restaurant or meeting space, share some insights, and network. On the day of the conference, we had 120 attendees and more importantly momentum. I am very happy with the results. Here is a wrap-up so far:

  • Very cool Jason. I'm only sorry I was not able to attend. Count me in next time. Congrats!
  • I did not attend the first event but from the photos and Twitter chatter I can tell the event was a success. Thank you Jason for leading your local tribe.

  • I am thinking Twitter Camp sometime in April or later
  • It was a great conference with quality speakers/panelists. Also, a lot of fun networking and meeting people interested in new media, social media, and blogging. I'm looking forward to the next one! Oh, and nice choice of picture. :) I'm glad I got the wifi working long enough to pull up the CLTwordcamp page to take it.

So what's next for CLT, TwitterCon '09?
